Application of Prefabricated Vertical Drains

Prefabricated Vertical Drains

Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD) are widely used in ground improvement projects to accelerate the consolidation of soft and compressible soils. Installed vertically into weak subsoil layers, PVDs provide a shortened drainage path that allows excess pore water pressure to dissipate more quickly under surcharge loading. This process significantly reduces consolidation time, improves shear strength, and minimizes long-term settlement. PVD systems are commonly applied in infrastructure works such as road embankments, port developments, reclamation areas, and industrial platforms, enabling faster construction schedules and enhanced foundation stability over soft ground conditions.
